ULTRASOUND - A KEY TOOL IN INJURY RECOVERY
When you're recovering from sprains and tears, ligament injuries, knee pain from running, tendonitis, or other physical stress and injury, ultrasound treatment is a key healing tool. It can also be an alternative to cortisone shots.
The US PRO 2000 (™), 2nd Edition portable ultrasound device generates continuous high frequency sound waves (1 MHz) that are transferred to your pain areas with this sound-head probe.
The sound waves travel deep into the tissues, which helps increase the blood flow (circulation) to the treated area, facilitating a more rapid healing and recovery.
A crystal in the head of this ultrasound device, and the application of the blue gel, helps the transmission of the ultrasound waves into the body. I often add Voltaren Emulgel cream, which is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by reducing pain and swelling and the ultrasound device helps the gel penetrate more deeply than the surface layer of our skin.
During the treatment, you may not feel anything other than a slightly warm feeling. Sessions on an affected area are usually 5, 10, or 15 minutes. I like to provide both ultrasound and PEMF sessions to an affected area to enhance healing.
This is a 'therapeutic ultrasound device' typically used in a physiotherapist, massage therapist, or chiropractic office. I have a portable version that's often used by sports teams to offer athletes immediate healing support before the person can get into a medical clinic. It's different than the 'diagnostic ultrasound device' used in pregnancy appointments. Consider adding ultrasound to your appointment with me. All tools are offered as part of a holistic treatment service that supports what you need on your appointment day.
